Abelmoschus manihot

I posted this plant on my This and That Thursday of this week. If you remember I gathered a seed head from a plant at my Dad's this past Summer. (one of the many flowers my mom grew) It finally bloomed yesterday and what a beauty! Abelmoschus manihot (Hibiscus manihot) A large ornamental okra with dinner-plate-sized yellow flowers with dark eyes.
Unfolding slowly in the morning.....

(it didn't take the bees long to find it)

closing gradually in the evening.

Height - 6ft. to 10 ft.
Spread - 3ft. to 6 ft.
Growth Habit- Clumps
Fast Grower
Full Sun Only --(mine is in the shade, maybe it will grow bigger in the ground in the sun)
Moisture - medium to wet
Attracts Butterflies and Bees

You surely have excellent eye for details in the way you gather yourself to take these beautiful photos. I'm so impressed!

I'm glad you include the scientific name and its English name of this plant. Am not very good at plant nomenclatures.

Thanks for the visit Darla. I'm truly honoured. Have a nice weekend!

That is gorgeous! I bet it's great having your Mom's flowers in your garden. Is that where you got your love of flowers from?
